Have you tested the switch? When you push on the switch can you hear the pump run?

The guy did not think it was the switch because it comes in with no trouble, I don't
know enough about these things to know either way so going based off what he said

If it's a hydraulic slide (do you actually know?) then the pump would have to work in order for the slide to retract. I don't think "the guy" sounds like he knows what he's talking about. I'd suggest getting a competent tech to look at it.

If the pump runs in either direction, the pump is good. If you are having an issue with the motor not running, ir could be an issue with an auto reset breaker or the Trombetta solenoiid. https://www.amazon.com/Intermittent-...861137&sr=8-19 Either one can be replaced without replacing the pump. This is the link for the Lippert diagnostics for the hydraulic pump electric system. https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd_0001894.pdf
Last year, our hydraulic pump stopped working, and using the diagnostics, determined the problem to be a failed electric motor. Lippert wanted over a thousand dollars for a replcement. I found an electric shop that rebuilds motors and had the motor rebuilt and rewound for less than a third the cost of a new one, and it works like new.
From the sound of it, I would not trust any of the people that are giving bad advise about your hydraulic pump system. If you let them, you will be spending thousands of dollars on faulty advise and replacement parts that are not needed.

JMHO, but I think the guy ( definitely NOT a tech) is trying to make money off you. As stated, if the room retracts the pump is working. I’m leaning towards a bad switch.

There's a lot of trouble shooting I'd do before dropping $500-800 + labor for a new pump.

Yup and the motor itself can be rebuilt for less cost than a new one and will most likely last longer
