Welding on RV

Hi just looking for some info on doing some welding on my 5ver. I am planning on disconnecting the 120v shore power and removing the leads from the 12v batteries, also just to be extra careful I'm shutting off all the breakers and the battery disconnect. Do you think that should cover it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh and a fire extinguisher and full supervision by my lovely bride. Thanks!

Unplugging shore power and disconnected battery lead is enough. Make sure DW has proper eye protection also.

I performed some extensive welding mods on my coach and did the same disconnects that you did. I also pulled all the fuses serving everything. If you have an electric over hydraulic brake system Dexter says no welding with their unit installed.
Cheers

I built a rear bumper that is welded to the frame and the hitch.

Keep the ground close to your welding lead, that prevents current from running through your rig.

I had a broken frame on our rig repaired five years ago and didn't have to disconnect anything. The welding was at the pin box area and also in front of the drivers side propane cylinder where the frame broke. The welder/mobile RV repair guy had the ground cable connected close to where he was welding. The third photo where the weld that is circled is where the frame was completely broken in two. That is the heavy beam that goes from one side to the other and transfers the load from the frame where the pin box is to the vertical frame that goes down the the main frame. I'm not sure how we got to the park where I saw the damage without the trailer having more damage than that. He welded cracks around the pin box area just because we had the Filon dropped down and saw some cracked welds.

I have welded items on the 3 previous campers without issue. In both cases I never disconnected anytyhing. I ground off a fresh spot on the frame for a good ground as close as possible to the weld then hit that with a little black paint when finished. Never had any issues but also didn't have InCommand or any boards other than the basic fridge,WH, conerter, etc.

Our unfitting company technicians use the following device on the battery when welding on the chassis.
