Matching keys/locks, storage and entry doors

Changed out the notorious CH751 keyed locks on my storage doors with cylinders that match my entry door. Will no longer match 75% of other folk's storage locks and one less key on my ring. Didn't do the outdoor shower door yet cause it will take some finagling. Not sure how often, if ever, that will get used so for now just tossing a couple CH751s in the trailer.

Sounds good!! I'm starting to see brand new units come with a single "smart" key for doors, and compartments.

I have 5 keys on my camper ring, I just live with it. One for one door and one for the other, one for the kitchen and shower, one for the storage doors and one for the locks I have on the trailer and hitch.

Our 312bhs has two doors, with 2 DIFFERENT keys. Seriously man? Is it really that much more money to get both doors with the same damn key? I plan on fixing the issue, but it is annoying

2 doors and 2 keys on my Passport TT too. Drives me nuts. I just need to break down and spend the money.

I have my keys set on the ring in a way that I know which is which. The bathroom door and the outside kitchen are together and the main door and the front storage are together and that seems to work for me.

Keep in mind that ALL manufacturers buy in massive bulk. The guy putting in lock sets just grabs from the pile and installs.

I "painted" my storage bay key with a red Marks A Lot so I could tell which was which.
Or, was it the entry door I painted red.....
lol

I never found it all that difficult to read the number on the lock and match it to the key, as long as I didn't leave my glasses in next to the bed.

I have never looked to see if there are numbers on the door locks and keys but many times it is dark so I would not be able to read them anyway.

Our 3220BH has 2 doors with 2 keys. I added keyed-alike padlocks for our propane tank lever & each battery (1 key), changed our 751 for cam locks on the storage & kitchen doors(3 keys) plus a key for the hitch ball lock, and the 751 for the outside shower.
Our camping keyring is about the same size as our house keyring

I just replaced my two exterior door locks with RVLock, now I want to do the same with my outdoor kitchen, outdoor storage and outdoor shower.

Do you have the specific details for the sizes / specifications of these locks (any info I need to order a replacement) also where did you order from.

Thank you

I found the keyed-alike padlocks at Princess auto. The cam locks were from Amazon, but I don't have a link. I was unable to find keyed-alike cam locks for a reasonable price, but still like that they are not just 751s.

Any specific dimensions on the depth, diamater, sizes etc... For these locks?

My trailer is in storage a few hours away.

Thanks,
Les

Les, you'll need to get measurements - it appears to vary... I think all of mine were .75 or 1.125" for the cam locks. You can (and should) adjust the striker by bending it for a tight seal.

We need to teach you the ways of the Force... Cheap headlamps from Home Depot.

Haha.

Seriously.

I first learned of them when someone pointed out the red LED is perfect for night flying in light aircraft. Fits under my headset, doesn't interfere with anything. Don't have to hold a flashlight in my teeth anymore if the panel lights fail. Etc.

Now I must have ten of the silly things all over the place.

Great in the garage when working on vehicles and projects, great in the radio room/ham shack when soldering small bits, great wandering outside at night looking for the dogs, great just tossed in the "cup holder" of a camp chair at camp when you need to head inside for the night or outside to water the dog later, great hitching up or setting up in the dark. You name it...

I've grown to hate it when I actually have to go get a handheld flashlight to see in some small space. Most of the time you can just pull the headlamp off your head and hold it at the right angle to see what you're doing with one hand while wrenching with the other if you can't get the angle right while it's on your head, great when someone says they dropped something by the fire pit and can't find it at night.

I warn you, they're addictive.

Get cheap ones at HD and make sure they don't need button cells. Get the ones that use AAA batteries.

Changed all my locks to same key as well. As for the hitch and latch I use a Bolt Lock brand lock that you program by using your truck key. Now my camper key ring has 3 items, the one key for the camper, the truck key, and the remote for the Husky hitch jack. I consider it money well spent.

Agreed. I bought the size recommended, and had to buy another set as the arms were too short. You need to have a look at what you have, sorry. I understand that's frustrating; our trailer is also a drive away from our home.
