50 amp plug in to trailer(but far shorter!)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a smaller 50 amp plug in cord for when you are boon docking and you just want to set the generator right behind the plug on your unit(or in my case even put the generator under the unit out of the rain which I have done from time to time). I find myself fighthing this 25 foot cord that came with it. I looked at amazon, my go to for all things rv, and don't see what I'm looking for . I am thinking 5 feet long max. 50 amp, where I can then use my 50 amp to 30 amp plug converter for plugging into the generator right off the back of the trailer.

I use a 50A to 30A pig-tail:

And then use a 10' 30A cord, which is much easier to handle than those monster 50A cords.

I don't see any 50A cords between about 1.5' and 10' either. You could, of course, make one...

this is a fair question. I thought about this, but I obviously have the exhaust point out to the rear of the trailer, its literally barely underneath it. there is a no windows back there on my model(its a bunk house) so I think its fine. It really cant be much worse than sitting in your car idling with the windows rolled up?

Also, doesn't every motor home have a generator exhaust pipe in a similar area?

Making your own to your desired length is easy. All you need is grounded 3 conductor wire from your local home improvement store, and both ends are available at your local RV parts store. I made my own 20' 220 cord for my welder so I could use it on the driveway.

Our motorhomes always had exhaust that vented to the side of the RV. I assume that hot exhaust rises.. And many states fairly specific exhaust exit requirements. I wouldn't run mine "under" the RV... To the side, yes, but not directly under....

Nellie, I also would simply make my own. And that jennie does NOT need to be under your trailer. A small piece of plywood will shield all the rain that needs to be protected from your unit.

We've the opposite problem since when traveling, our generator sits in the truck bed and the 50 amp cord won't reach from the stupid rear connector on our 5er to it. I've got to use a 20' heavy duty extension cord to hook it up.

I went with the camco cord to get from the back of the TT to the bed of the truck. A bit pricey but after a pair of 2000i's and extended run setup,, what's another Franklin 😂
