Anyone from New Mexico ?

We are thinking of taking our new TT to Albuquerque the end of November .. how is the weather there at that time. I checked on line and it seems some nights it gets into the 30’s.

We are new to TT should I be concerned ? I am thinking I should be ok and also I am bringing a 3 gallon nail gun compressor thinking if real cold was coming I could always drain and blow out the lines.

Andy thoughts and advise would be great

Thanks

Sailorpat1954, Howdy;

Welcome to the forum.

Yup, it's started getting cold already, more there then here but I've had the
furnace on the past few nights. I fulltime about 200 miles South of Abq.

Please be aware that Albuquerque is a very active auto theft area. Are you
visiting family or intending to camp in the area? If you are camping then have
you chosen a campground?
If you are going to be living in it while you are visiting then having a proper
outlet to plug into is ideal. You can run your furnace when you need to
and ventilate during the day as necessary. Our daytime temps are still
generally comfortable. Heavy shirt (light jacket), to shirt sleeves.
Central Ave (Main Street), is in the middle of a huge remake. Think of a snake
eating another, they are doing the sections one after the other with overlaps. Here's a link so you can see what being torn up and what isn't.
http://www.cabq.gov/municipaldevelop...traffic-report

Hope I was able to answer some of your questions.

We've spent quite a bit of time in Albq. The end of Nov. can be dicey there. What is your route? How long will you be there? On one occasion we went to help our son who lived there the 1st week of Dec. We came through Clines Corner in foot deep snow. Followed a semi into Albq going at a snails pace. When we got there they told us the interstate was closed right after we went thru Clines Corner. So, it can happen.

As Hankaye pointed out; Albq. is a rough town....very rough. The feds pinpointed Albq in 2016 I believe due to their terrible crime rate and are still running those traps as I understand. So, just be aware. I don't/won't spend any time there just like the Mexican border towns.....better things to do. The Trader Joes there has some pretty good stuff if you decide to stay...

We lived in Albuquerque for 20 years. My daughter and sister are still there. We visit every year. American RV on the west side is very nice. If you are able to stay at Military Campgrounds Kirkland AFB Family camp is nice. You should be ok weather wise. Have fun!

Pat, DW and I have traveled through Albuquerque a number of times, resting up at Isleta Resort and Casino RV park. This is very new and very nice. I might add that the prices were reasonable, however I don't remember if there were any facilities to entertain children. It is located on I-25 just a couple miles south of the big interchange. No, we have not crossed over to the casino. I still have my money in my pocket!

My original post was to warn you to keep your eyes open and your "stuff" secured. "Normally" you should be OK in the timeframe you mentioned weather wise; the instance I mentioned was a one time anomaly, and as I said, it can happen so be prepared. I don't want you to think it all doom and gloom.....if we are ever there we don't go out at night.....(just my "old man" wariness).

If your trailer is going to be in someone's front yard I would put a hitch lock, coupler lock and lock on the propane tanks. There was a pic on here at one time that is the way I secure my tanks. A hole drilled through the wing nut that holds the tank down, through the separation bar and a HD lock installed thru the holes. Works very well and is simple to do. Just some ways to hopefully deter any bad guy wanting to mess with your stuff. Good luck there and have fun.....it is a pretty place with lots of things to go see and do.

Missing one crucial piece of info, what trailer do you have? Does it have an enclosed underbelly? It’s easy to assume that it does, but not always the case. That time of year in NM is nice during the day, but gets cold at night. Alb is a little colder than Las Cruces where I’m located so a little more concern up there. If you have an enclosed underbelly, the radiated heat should keep you from having any problems down into the teens

Hankaye, stop into Holiday World and say hi some day. We’re closed on Sunday and I’m off on Thursday, but other than that I’m typically there (except Nov 9-16, going on a little vacation).

Morning Sailorpat. Let me add my couple of cents. We live a 160 miles northwest of Alb. up in the 4 corners. Like a couple have said, weather is very unpredictable the end of November. Have seen fabulous weather for Thanksgivings and also seen snow up to your huevos and everything inbetween. You just have to check on it about a week to 10 days out.
The following is just my thoughts & observations from watching the nightly Alb news & reading the Alb paper.
Like Hankaye hinted at, you'd better be on high alert and keep your eyes on your stuff if you want to continue to own it. But even that's no guarantee it won't be pilfered. lol They don't care if you have cameras watching your stuff. I also think they're trying to keep up with Chicago in the shooting stats, bout every night someone is shot.
I use to drive activities down to Alb. almost weekly and take the family down a couple or 3 times a year to do some shopping. Now, DW absolutely refuses and will not travel down to Alb anymore cuz of the high increase of crime. Just telling ya how I see it and letting you know what the possibilities are. Enjoy your trip.

You have got to be kidding me! We stayed at Hacienda RV for two days. I walked to Holiday World on Friday to purchase a screen door latch & browse!

Yes it has a enclosed underbelly. I guess they call it extended season... if it does get real cold I will drain and blow out the lines.. then head south
