Radio comes on by itself

I have a 2011 Laredo 291tg. Just over the last week, several different times, I have discovered the radio in my camper turned on. No one has been in it. This started after a lightning strike in our neighborhood. any suggestions? Way to test if the radio is shot?

Our last unit, 27QBSS R-Vision did the same thing... Found that after plugging in / out the shore power the radio would go on. Drove me nuts at first, kept thinking I was leaving it on! Actually forgot to tell the dealer that when we traded it, most likely driving the new owner nuts now.

A Ghost

Maybe it's haunted?
You might try removing the battery from the remote control and see if that helps?

Cool

I had that problem in an R-Vision also. I found that my Direct TV remote was turning it on as well as there were many times that I found it on while in storage. I think maybe some other garage door openers or other radio signals were interfering with it. No problems with the stereo in the Raptor.

I had the same problem in our Cougar, DW thought I was nuts. After it happened a couple of times, I thought I was nuts. Come to find out, somehow the timer was set and it would come on. Easy fix, turned the timer off. Happy Camping, Sam

I had the same problem on my 303tg. Couldn't figure out why the radio kept coming on. It was the alarm on the radio.

even though I am so tired I can barely walk, I just went out to my camper and checked the alarm on the radio.....who knew? It was turned on. I couldn't figure out how to see what it was set for, but I did manage to turn it off. Thanks everyone! I was not looking forward to a two hour one-way drive to take it to the nearest authorized dealer. now, good-night.

Ours is doing the same thing! I pulled the fuse and re-inserted. Would that reset the timer? I think we all have the same gremlins!!

Same here. I would find mine on every morning as well. It was set to come on at midnight.

Ghosts

Same issue. After 10 months of owning our 2011 Outback 5er; it has decided to shake me up with the same effects. I thought I was going "stir crazy" up in those mountains by myself. Thank goodness I had the outside speakers turned low as to not drive the neighbor campers nuts while we were away on vacation, sans RV. Right now I have the volume at "zero" just as a precaution until I figure out who is living in there.
Good blog...

Weird Stereo Problem

I have a 2009 Hideout 26RLS. This past week when we went camping the stereo light is on. It does not show any info, you cant turn it on or off, it just stays on. We pulled the fuse, turned off electric, reset the main breaker, the lights still stay on. I cant play the cd or radio. Just have a never ending light on. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am totally confused with this. it worked fine last month when we went camping.

The radio in my 2016 Passport started coming on about a month ago. Thought someone (I) was leaving it on, so just turned it off. Today it was on again, but none of the controls would work--no on/off, no volume, no station change, no clock or alarm--but the lights were on. Removed the fuse; hope it stays off!

This thread is over 8 years old. I do recall a similar issue(s) being discussed more recently but seems it was a ghost or something? (that was mentioned in the thread at the time). Hope you have it resolved.

If I recall, the bourbon was missing, but the vodka and gin were intact, radio on and alarm not set. I can't remember if the glasses had ice in them or not, but swizzle sticks were never mentioned..... Ghosts? Likely Confederate generals since it was only bourbon.....

That is still one of my favorite threads of all times.

Hopefully with the fuse out you'll have it fixed.

If it does come back on, I'd get out of camping altogether and turn to knitting instead.

Anyone else need some Visene? The dust from these old posts are heavy lately.
