bumper hitch

have a 2015 outback 298re I want to install hitch on the bumper so I can use a cargo carrier, can the bumper handle the weight.if not can I install a bolt on hitch to the trailer frame?

Most likely the bumper will not support it, usually around a 200 pound limit. If the spare is there then maybe a kids bike can be added but that is it. Look under the trailer to see if there is frame to attach to.

Everything I have read would discourage from installing anything onto the bumper. Seems the thin walled metal and poor welds cannot hold much.

On my last RV trailer, I took it to a local RV repair shop and had them weld a Class III receiver to the frame.

I carried a Dual Sport motorcycle on it for many years.

My only caution is: Remember that this location is the "bounciest" place to load anything. Whatever you load must be very well secured.
