New tires ouch...
Tires on our SRX started to show fine sidewall cracks. While the manufactures say this is a sign of age not failure... I decided to replace vs wait another year. Considering we have upper end load (carry golf cart) it seemed prudent. Price - $709.00 total including everything out the door. Goodyear Marathon, ST 235 80/R16. Just wondering how this price compares to others replacement costs. We have a couple of long trips fully loaded coming up this summer, seemed reasonable for piece of mind...

I think my Maxxis LRE replacements were just under that at Discount Tire. I paid a "little more" and had them do the spare also, all with metal valve stems. Peace of mind...so far, so good.

Seems like a fair price- I went with maxxis and paid slightly more. My tires showed no signs of cracking - but I had a few long trips planed and it was not worth the risk. They were 4 years old.
Those tires on our srx325 live their life at almost max load. And if you look at most of the weigh charts they start to de-rate load above 60 mph or max speed of 65.

I would say you got a fair price, although we don't know if you're in the US, Canada or Mexico. We paid $707.00 out the door, including balancing, for Sailun S637's 235 85-16, but simpletire.com says $159 each on line, no shipping fee. This is the load range G, 14 ply.

My 4 maxxis ran right around $700.00 with mount, balance and metal valve stems. so its all in the neighborhood. Got a buddy who has a Th and we were at cookout Sunday where he stores his campers. he had 4 of the 6 tires with the tread separation and one tire had a large bubble out the side wall. he has extended warranty with tire coverage. I told him to try and get all 6 tires because if 4 are bad the other two are right behind those.

In today's world of Chinese made Marathon ST tires, $700 is a pretty high price to pay if you have a heavy 5er as toy haulers all seem to be these days. The Tow Max are around $100 each and, if I recall, have a couple hundred more pounds capacity for that size --- but are still suspect. Sailun's, also made by the makers of the Tow Max, seem to have good reviews if you can find them. Maxxis also seem decent. Myself, and hopefully without stirring the pot one more time, will always go with LT tires. A quick note on LTs - I just installed four on our 5er and a disconcerting 65-68 mph tail twitch and crowned road wallow is now gone probably from the stiffer sidewall construction.

For those of you that went to LT/G rated tires on your 5'er....do you notice a different ride on stuff within the camper? Mine bounces like crazy, and screws rattle loose etc., so I worry a harsher ride (like the one in my truck when with g-rated tires) will be harder on the camper and it's inside pieces.
I priced recently for Michelin's and my price shipped and installed was right around 700.

I went to the Goodyear 614 G's last year and have had several longer trips and not experienced any harsher ride than before. I do have the upgraded Mor/Ryde suspension though so not sure it that is making the difference or not.
Even if it was a little harsher, the extra safety capacity is worth it.
I got a 10 yr old Weim as well :-)

Ours is 7, acts like he's 10 lol!
I think I'm doing the suspension upgrade next year so tires will likely follow.

You should have a lot of options for tires. According to the specs, your rig weighs, with load, at 12,200 lbs, and minus the listed hitch weight of 1,800 lbs, you only will have about 10,400 lbs on the tires, so that is only 2,600 lbs per tire if the load is perfectly balanced. I know there are some that say you shouldn't put LT tires on these rigs, but at these weights, you could put very good LT tires from most any manufacturer and have a very safe rig.

Tires
Well, the deal is done this replacement cycle, they are paid for and service time is scheduled. Appreciate the feedback, we shall see how these wear. Week from tomorrow I go over to Camping World and have them installed, it's only 30mi away and easy trip.

Anyone try Gladiators....they come up to load G in 16 inch. I see them on equipment trailers. Pretty heavy duty looking tire.

I went with Maxxis 10 ply tires. They are the only ST tire that is not made in China. LTs would have been my first choice, but they are really hard to find in 15".

Here's a picture of my buddies TH tires that are blowing up. Really!!!
His extended warranty will not cover the tires. It's for road hazard only. (loophole)
He is replacing all six tires now. $1000.00 dollars....two weeks before a vacation trip.double ouch...
On edit these are more blown out than they were on Sunday at the cookout, but we have had several high 80s days with 100%huumidity.

Randy,
Some (certainly not all) of the members who have had that kind of tire failure have contacted the tire manufacturer and received compensation/warranty reimbursement for the failed tires. You might urge your friend who has these tires to contact Power King and see if they are willing to help with replacement tires. Some members have reported that Power King has even paid the claim for tires that were replaced with a different brand tire (Maxxis).

Tires
Wow... Now this is exactly what I didn't want to have happen and went with new tires before the hairline cracks got any worse. I feel confident we went the right course with early replacement. Thanks for all the replies.

Could you just explain what Goodyear G rated tires you found and from where? Thanks. I see keystone is running them on the new fuzions.

I bought them from a local dealer here in Charlotte. They were about $1,400 installed.
Here is the link to more info;

I have been very happy with them so far.

That's why I went with Carlisle Radial Trail RH 235/85 R16 F. 3960 lb load rating at 95 psi. Got them at discount tire for $600 mounted, balanced, steel valve stems.
