New to forum - Cougar 5th wheel Model 285

Just new to the forum but have owned the Cougar 5th wheel (Model 285) for several years now. Long enough to have had to deal with some problems. We're pulling it with a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel. Have no problems going up and own the Colorado mountain passes with the Dodge Ram.

One recent problem was a slide/glide room switch that went bad while in the mountains camping. This unit does not have any easily accessible slide motor (Lippert system) that you can over-ride and hand retract the slide. Wondering if anyone else has devised a solution for this. The manual lists an extension for the manual over-ride that can be mounted on the frame, but I have had no success in finding this or having it installed. I did learn how to hot wire across the broken switch to retract the slide and now carry a spare room switch.
