garage not heated?
Just bought a new carbon, and seen what looks like a heater vent in the corner of the garage. Turned on furnace and no flow then pulled out drawers next to sink in living area and seen what looks like a flex hose going to vent but couldn't trace it any farther than going through the floor under the cabinet. Maybe its the vent for the dryer?

Crazy coincidence but I was just reading posts from 2020 about Raptor garage heat because I was wondering about my own rig. The furnace is definitely not ducted to the garage but if you have a garage ac unit there is the possibility of a heat strip. Most people say that a space heater works better than the heat strip anyway. I hope that I’ve given you the correct answer.

Welcome to the forum
Odds are that vent is for the furnace. Depending on how far away it is the air flow may be very poor. Another possibility is the ducting is crushed or kinked. Since your trailer is new it is a warranty issue, but you may want to fix it yourself if your dealer is backed up.

Thanks yeah we were planning to use portable heater anyway. Have used them for years on our other campers, uses less propane and saves your battery. Just couldn't figure what that vent is for?

Can you post a pic? Dryer vents aren’t usually installed at the factory. We use oil filled radiators- less energy and safer IMO.

I’ve been curious how toyhaulers handle any gas fumes that may accumulate and cause problems. In residential homes it’s against code to have any ductwork from a central duct system that vents or returns air into the garage. Gas fumes and carbon monoxide possibly getting into the rest of the home via the ductwork when the furnace is off is the reason. I guess when the garage has its own ac unit it is just a non ducted unit? Just for the garage zone?

Toy haulers have a vent in the sidewalls one high on one side and low on the other. You can open them in opposite directions for “flow through” ventilation.
OP: no problem. Whenever you get a chance.

If there is a "vent on the wall" and "a flex hose" then it's not for a dryer vent. If it was, there wouldn't be the vent in the wall...
When you get back to the trailer, turn on the furnace and you should feel air blowing out of that flex hose. If you do, then connect it to the wall vent. If you don't, you've got two choices: 1) Start digging to find the crimped hose or the cut hose or 2) call the dealer and let them deal with it.
If you've got camping trips scheduled, just make an appointment for after the trips. I'd recommend not waiting until fall and then trying to make an appointment, you probably won't get one for 3-4 months after the call... Call now and get your appointment for 3-4 months from now LOL

Could the op’s vent be the “low” vent that is usually in the wall for venting gas fumes... flex line just runs down to vent under trailer

I doubt it. The vents used for fumes are usually metal and rectangular.

Garage Vent
We have a 2018 Fuzion 357. The small round vent in the garage wall on our TH is connected to the furnace. Doesn't blow a lot of air but we do get a little heat from it.
As others suggested, we run a small ceramic electric heater to suplement the heat in the cool weather

Yes, same here on our 417. It's ducted heat. But blows very little. The floors in the garage is generally not insulated, which makes the back area colder

Jasin,
Your code understanding is the same as mine - no ducts from the garage into the main cabin to avoid CO and other fumes into the main living space. But there may be ducts going the other way. As chuck points out, cross flow ventilation within the garage is provided from the two manually opened outside vents, primarily to deal with any fumes (oil/gas) from the hauled toys. In our Raptor, the main "racetrack" AC ductwork is vented "into" the garage but not very effective. The 3rd AC unit in the garage is a stand alone and is NOT vented into the main cabin. We don't have any ducted heat to the garage; the 3rd AC is also the heater - a heat strip, but doesn't work very well. The garage does have it's own temperature sensor and controls built into the main thermostat. In order to run the garage heat (AC strip), one needs 110VAC power (shore or generator), so we just use a small electric heater and that seems to work well. We can run it a short while on the inverter power, or start the generator.
Heating in our Raptor is not perfect, but you can learn to live with the quirks. Our main cabin propane heater sounds like an F4 with afterburners on and brakes locked waiting for take-off! We try to only use it sparingly. It works really well, but it's LOUD! So, being in the forest and taking our coffee out on the party deck on a cool morning is worth every bit of the quirks in the Raptor.

Our Fuzion has a round heater outlet at the front of the garage which feeds off the furnace. The struggle with ducting the garage for the manufacturer lies in the RV floorplan layout. Ducts for the main area are in the floor and source from the underbelly. Since the garage door is lower and the fuel tanks toyhauler have under the floor, they can't floor duct the heat. So our particular unit has a TV/Fireplace console at the wall between garage and main area. So they run the duct out of the underbelly behind the TV area and thus the garage front wall has a round outlet. Unfortunately that same wall space is also where the W/D goes...and we have a W/D so it blocks the heat.
They did put the heat strip option in the rear AC to help.

Highly suggest you don't use the heater in your rig unless boon docking. Ceramic heaters work better, are safer and run on electric that your paying for at your site already. we have one ceramic heater we keep at the Garage door and it heats the entire rig. Also worked great on the generator.
Temps were only in the 30's but generally we stay towards the warmth.
