Who thought of this poor design?

Not sure what length the gutter channels come in when manufactured but there are two lengths on the right side of my trailer that join behind the awning right above the entrance door. This joint is leaking (gonna go re caulk it today). Why not put the joint any where else there is not an opening to the inside of the trailer?
The bigger problem is that water leaking from the gutter is coming through the door seal and has collected on a rubber backed throw rug so the rug is wet,and there is quite a bit of moisture in it. I do have a large Damp Rid bucket in there and I am gonna pull the rug to dry it out, but should I be worried about the door seal too?
Is there any way to realign the door for a tighter seal?
