Even with the recall on earlier model years, my 2015 Passport has 2 self tapping screws and two nut and bolt fasteners holding each scissor jack.
When pulling one off to install a bracket for my sewer hose, the two self tapping screws broke. Both already had rust to the center of the screw diameter, so I suspect they were over torqued. BTW: They were #14 (~1/4" diameter) not the 3/16" self tappers. Must have been a design upgrade.
Why they would continue to build the same way after a recall nearly 9 months earlier is hard to understand.
