Another area to check is the floor under the slide. You could be getting water trapped up into the floor from rain/water being thrown off the tires while traveling. Unlike the rest of the floor, your slides don't have a large area for air movement to dry out any moisture. I would eliminate everything possible before I started drilling holes.
