I like using a junction box like this.

If you just use what you have get rid of the wire nuts on there using butt connectors. If some of the wiring doesn't seem to match up color wise use a jumper wire and do one wire at a time. For example find one of the turn signal wires coming from the TV then touch trailer wires until the correct light works connect those wires and move onto another. Not difficult just time consuming
