Diesel prices prices historically follow crude oil prices, which are driven by world demand. Note current prices are not any higher than historical per the link below. Be lucky you are not in California where prices are ~$4.5/gallon and no pipeline from cheaper refinery sources in the US Gulf to reduce price.
