3. I rarely worry about how full the tank is, but drive until the main tank starts dropping. However, I have an old school square yard stick that I've marked and can use it to see how much room I have is I feel the need.

Here is a picture of my tank that I did some calculations for and will like you, use a measuring stick if I need to. Inches = gallons left .....
