Well, we had a 23 RS and a half ton with 3.42 or 3.73 would be fine. They are not that heavy. That being said, if you feel you will be getting a larger trailer in the future, you may want to buy now, unless the future is 8 years out, then just buy for what you have now. You will be wasting a lot of gas with a 2500 needlessly if you way over compensate the truck. Newer trucks can haul a lot more than the older ones and again, that trailer was not that heavy.
