I know more people with bigger trucks than needed than lighter than needed
. A couple of examples are the guy that only pulls a 12' aluminum dinghy with his 3/4 ton, and my buddy with a 1 ton dually that won't tow or even use the bed.
We can all rationalize our stuff.

I would think towing a trailer with a bigger truck than needed wouldn't be a mistake, more a safety factor. Those pulling a trailer with too light a truck ARE making a mistake. Heck, I know tons of folks with 1/2 & 3/4 ton trucks that pull nothing.....just want a truck in case they need it.
