In Denver, around 1970 or 1971, there were two gas stations on opposite corners of First and Sheridan in west Denver. One station was Exxon and one was Conoco. They got into a gas war and Conotane went down to 17 cents a gallon. I was sitting in the office (my RV repair shop was on one of those corners) and watched the Exxon truck deliver "Conotane" to the Conoco station after pulling out of the Exxon station....
That was my first exposure to the "dirty truth about gas station management"....
