I'm fine with the automatic and rarely use the manual mode in my Ford but it is nice to have as an option. Especially on the 10%, 16ft wide switchback road down into Palo Duro Canyon.
One reason not to buy a 6 speed manual is the OD of the auto. Give me 16 or 18 split and I could get into that.
