Glad to hear that your trip wasn't a "disappointment", LOL.
When dumping this is what I do (when no line at the dump station):
1) Make sure tank is almost full before dumping
2) Let er rip until no more flow
3) Close dump valve
4) Turn on black tank flush for about 5 min (stand there the whole tTim so I don't get distracted)
5) Dump again until flow stops
6) Turn on black flush, partially remove hose fitting from septic hole so I can see what is coming out (some folks use a clear fitting). Wait until mostly clear. Close black vvalve.
7) put about 4 gals water in a pail with abt 1/2 cup dawn and about 1/3 box (maybe 2 cups) arm and Hammer "washing soda" into toillet (yellow box found in laundry Isle at Walmart - not baking soda).
8) my black tank is now ready for next trip.

This works for me and I never have odors.For me that is an accomplishment.
