Propane consumption would depend on the size of the engine, the load it's under, and the efficiancy of the motor/generator. In a comparison between the 2 fuels propane burns cleaner but has a lower btu/gal than gasoline. If you're considering LP for boondocking consider the availability for fuel replenishment. You may have to travel greater distances to get an LP tank filled.
