Gee..... GM recognized that a 3/4 ton Diesel truck with only 2,000lbs payload is actually pretty stupid...... then went out and built a bigger, better, stronger, safer truck with more payload (and to have less people driving around overweight which is so coveted here)

side note: the other manufacturers will follow suit in their next gen trucks very shortly.
