Personally I would not and do not see a reason to install any after market tuner, etc.. that duramax will have more torque and power than you will ever need..
My 2007 is stock.. it gets 13.5 pulling an Alpine fifth wheel.. 20 mpg without.. ive seen a lot of guys install tuners and programmers and have short longevity on the drivetrain.
It’s your rig... enjoy it....
