It is definitely a matter of preference depending on where you live, where you park your rig, elements, etc. I park mine in a fairly wind sheltered area in my yard, but under trees. The leaves and such wreak havoc on my roof. Once the gutters are clogged with decaying leaves, water drainage is hampered causing water to go where it shouldn't. That is not good. 6 months during northern winters is a long time to let tree droppings sit on a rv. If I had a place to park it in area with no trees, I likely would not cover it. Out in the open, wind can cause damage to covers and the rv exterior.
For me, covering it makes sense.
