Yet the converter charge the battery. It's far more powerful and sophisticated than an inexpensive trickle charger. After it's had had a chance to charge (may take 24 hrs), then keep an eye or ear out. If there is nothing on inside (i.e. lights, fans, fridge) than the fan should shut off. I'd still recommend having the battery checked. It only takes one deep discharge to greatly reduce the capacity and the life of a flooded lead acid battery.
