Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the forum. As you so rightly pointed out, good value for the $$$ and small enough to get around some of these west coast "trails" but not as small and manouevable as the camper van you left behind so you still need to know the backroad conditions to make sure you can get in and out without trashing your trailer.
We soon replaced the "mattress" on our bed by taking it to a foam and mattress shop where it was rebuilt as well as having a memory foam topper sewed into the top of the mattress. Much better!
