The housing doesn't slide. Housing and locking nut are threaded and run along the threaded shaft. Everything works as it should and seems to be within specs. That's where I set it when I found that the cover and nut were loose. I'm just wondering if it's for when the slide's retracted and fits up against the frame or other flat surface to make a somewhat weather/roadproof cover.
