I tried using a 750w (450w should be fine) inverter for this same purpose. I found that the wiring from the batteries to the cigarette plug were undersized for this application. Same problem you describe. I ran #10 wiring from the battery distribution point to the inverter located at the entertainment center. Plugged the TV in to the inverter and everything worked fine. Have watched several movies while boon-docking no problem since the DVD/CD player in the /cougar is 12v the only thing running off the inverter is the TV.
