I figured our unit was too old for a pre-wired location. Oh well. Great advice and ideas. I'm going to take a look at both approaches. At first glance I like the idea of bringing the cable into the cabinet in the bedroom which would be a great place for the receiver since it can be easily viewed from the bedroom and living room.
