Reminds me of time I first met my now son-in-law. We're both coffee addicts and all we had was a good bag of beans and a campfire percolator. We desperately tried grinding with a rudimentary metate and mano. We got a few slivers and drank nearly clear hot water. Made me respect the Anasazi - I don't see how it's possible to manually grind coffee with stones.

Next Christmas the kids gave me an antique wooden manual grinder that I keep with me just in case.
