What year and model of trailer? How old are the batteries? If I understand correctly the "alarm" stops when plugged into shore power?
I'm not aware of the 8955 having an alarm but I have read about them seemingly make one. I'm thinking it may be that your batteries are discharged or depleted?? Check those if you haven't.
