Not sure this helps....

We have a metal "fence" like thing that has two tubes that swivel out at a 90 degree angle then slide under the matress. That leaves the "fence" up along the side of a bed. We didn't use it for bunks but for our granddaughter on a conventional bed.

Not ours but same idea. Bed Bath and Beyond has two lengths.
