30 amp EMS start around $300. In my opinion, for 1/3 that cost you can get a surge protector and you may as well take that hundred bucks and donate it to charity, at least you'll have more peace of mind. A surge protector is useless in the camping environment as they do not address the most common harmful conditions of low voltage, improperly wired pedestal outlets, voltage drop outs (like the lights at home flickering during a storm), etc.
One bad electrical event can wipe out the air conditioners, fridge, tv, antenna booster, etc. and end up costing thousands of dollars along with the lost time/use of the camper.
