I'd recommend ALWAYS using a WD hitch with any tongue weight heavier than about 600 or 700 pounds no matter how much "capacity" you have with the truck ratings. I say that because you never know when you're going to get in a situation where the front end loses traction and having the weight "distributed' to help compensate for sand on the road, ruts in a gravel road or even hitting a railroad crossing that lifts the front end and affects your steering when you "return to earth".... I'd always use a WD hitch with added sway control in any situation. Just my opinion,
