Stay alive and drive to a spot where your off the shoulder or a wide shoulder. The worst fatal, due to cause, I seen was the dad showing his son how to change a tire on the left side 3 feet from the fog line. They were hit at highway speed and both died while mom was sitting in the car. That rim can be replaced, you not so much. It is beyond me why some I have come across refuse to drive on the shoulder or low speed in the right lane to get to a safe place before changing a tire just because the rim might get bent.
