^^^^what Danny said. I might add that there is nothing 'neat nor quaint' about the Fort Myers area. Cape Coral/Naples/Fort Myers is a large, bustling metro area. Very heavy traffic ALL THE TIME. As an example, I would challenge you to find a parking space in any of the Costco's any day of the week. There are many redeeming qualities of the Fort Myers area, but not neat nor quaint. Good restaurants abound, as do museums, parks and beaches.
You think the Atlantic might be cold in February? The gulf waters are much colder that time of the year because of being so shallow.
Danny's suggestion of visiting the first winter without purchase is a much better idea.
While visiting the area be sure to visit The Shrimp Shack, Farmer's Market Restaurant and The Ford Garage. All have food worth the time!
