I would NOT use silicone anywhere on an trailer exterior. If I were you, I'd buy a roll of BUTYL putty tape from an RV supplier or parts dealer and put it in a ziplock baggie for storage (to keep it relatively clean and dry). Use that under the mount, then use DICOR non-leveling sealant around the edges, or buy a tube of Proseal or Proflex sealant to run your "sealing bead".

Silicone, once cured, can't be easily cleaned off the surface and NOTHING will stick to cured silicone, not even more silicone. So "avoid silicone based sealants" at all costs anywhere you may need to "reseal or apply additional sealants"....
