I agree with Brian. You can buy the complete "self adjusting bolt on assembly" with new shoes, magnet and all hardware/adjusting components for most 12x2 assemblies for around $50 each. Buying only replacement shoes and magnets for the same wheel costs around $20 for the shoes and $25 for the magnets. So, a $5 savings by using all the old hardware/backing plate and hoping nothing is bent or broken... That doesn't include the time to disassemble, clean, inspect and reassemble the brake assembly. And you still have "non-adjusting brakes"...
