A easy way to read the numbers is to get the area wet with a spray bottle of water, hold flash light to the side and angle beam onto the area. You can do better by useing wire bush over area than wet. Main point, putting a beam of light stright at the area will not help. The angle shows up shadows and picks up the ingraved letters or numbers.
