The yellow tape is gas thread tape. Not all thread tapes are the same. Make sure you get gas rated tape. When you put the new tape on, take all the old tape off first. Then wind the tape clockwise looking into the pipe. Leave the last 3-4 threads without tape otherwise there's a possibility of shards of tape getting up into the workings of the regulator.
