Upon return from a trip, we leave our sheets on the bed until the week we are leaving, then wash them that week and install them fresh 1 or 2 nights before we leave. Unless my In-laws have slept in it (light smokers)- then we remove them as soon as we get home. Extra sheets for bunk beds and stuff are washed and stowed in the cabinets upon return home until needed.
