You might consider using a RCA "Patch cable" to connect the TV audio out to the stereo "AUX IN". Then select AUX on the stereo. That will play the TV audio through the stereo speakers in the ceiling. Turn on the TV and adjust the stereo volume. Hopefully it will be significantly more volume than you're getting from the two "marginal TV speakers".
