Lisbon, CT

(Long story for a short stay). One year while traveling south for a couple of winter months; we – at the last minute – decided to visit some of our money at Foxwood near Lisbon, CT. Instead of taking our normal routes from I-290 to I-84 (bypassing the toll on I-90) we went south on I-395 to Lisbon.

It was a Thursday and we planned on staying three nights at the Odetha CG at Bozrah, CT. We have stayed there numerous times and never had a problem with getting a site without reservations until this time. So we took a long lunch stop and started shopping for a place to stay. We found the Deer Haven CG way off the beaten path but with easy traveling time to Foxwoods. All of their FHU sites were reserved and they had a single – no regulars wanted it – with W/E and gray water. With just the two of us we can easily do three days on gray water because we weren’t going to be there at the trailer except for sleep and rest. Well, the site was out behind a CG building that housed the CG office, a well stocked country store and the owner/manages residence.

When we got to the CG we were sure they were pulling our leg about being booked-up. I’m glad I didn’t mention it because at dark thirty the place was full.

The CG is about two miles down a narrow paved road. Coming back from the casino in the wee hours we saw wild animals every time.

Surprisingly the park was clean including all common areas. There is a nice little swimming/fishing pond.
