This has all been massively helpful conversation and it brings up a comment someone said that mirrored my experiences. It was in response to 'do you tow with a full fresh tank?' and he stated that his trailer was delivered to him that way and it did, in fact, tow better with a full tank.

I've experienced that as well...with an extra chain link on the Blue Ox WDH, that extra 850 lbs of water settled the trailer down and everything towed really well (that's the heaver CATscale reading further back in this thread.) That would make a lot of sense if the axles and springs are over specified for the application...If the trailer is too light for the springs, it's going to bounce around a bit more. Even at that weight, I was 1000 lbs away from GVWR.

Theoretically, I could still throw the 850 lb motorcycle in back and still be under the limits...though I don't think I'd feel comfortable doing that.
