Depends on your 5er.
There are a lot of fifth wheels that can be towed by an SRW TV. There are also many that DRW is almost required (according to the weight police) and I agree.
My 5er has a max of 13K and the numbers align with my tow capability and overall weights. Anything bigger and I will be in DRW territory.
I do not know what the magic number is for the breaking point between SRW or DRW. Most commentary on here suggest anything over 14K should be DRW. Although I have seen a lot of 250/2500 pulling 14K plus fifth wheels. That's a separate thread .
At least if you are going with a SRW get a one ton.
