I can't answer your specific question, but had the same issue with my old Cougar 32RLI. The overhead LED lights were so bright that I never used them. I began looking into an LED dimmer switch (e.g.,
https://www.amazon.com/Facon-Dimmer-...+dimmer+switch), but never took it any further.
My new Cougar 34TSB (on order) has the dimmer control already installed.
