We have the shurflo pump in our trailer so I can only speak to that, but the shurflo pump is a very simple device. There are no critical parts or things that go "boing" if you disassemble it. With ours, the plumbing is attached to the pump with screw on fittings (like garden hose fittings) so it is easy to get the pump out of it's hidey-hole. There are six screws that hold the pumping part onto the motor part. Those screws also hold the two halves of the pumping part together. In the pumping part there is a switch that is activated by a spring loaded plunger and this is the switch that starts/stops the pump. It might be a simple issue of some calcium buildup or foreign matter restricting the movement of the switch plunger. Don't be afraid to disssemble the pump and check it out yourself. It's simple, there's no high voltage or high pressure around it and if you find that the pump diaphragm is worn out, the worst that can happen is you are up for a new pump. Doing it yourself will save a LOT in repair labor bills and you'll learn a lot about your system.
Edit: Also you don't need any specialised tools to disassemble the pump, just a philips screwdriver.
