Well,its all about safety. If you spend as much time of metro freeways as I have you will see trailers of all types with a missing wheel and tire at some point.
Some have the wheel still attached to the brake drum, those happen when the wheel bearings failed and the driver not knowing. Others just the wheel and tire are somewhere down the road. Those came off from improperly torqued nuts, mostly. Torque them down and use a wrench that shows you tension. That means get a torque wrench. I have found loose nuts at the first mileage stop, not later but, I still check.. Good news if it does happen the wheel and tire usually pass you and you get to see where they crash. Hope its not into another vehicle.
