I've seen more that were behind the tire than that weren't... Most "RV engineering" (term used loosely) is more about weight, balance, cost than about safety... From that "engineering perspective" the tires aren't supposed to blow, so there's no problem putting the line there. If it should blow, the backup protection is the pressure cutoff valve in the propane tank...…
